Instructions
- Preheat and Prep: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Cream Butter and Sugars: In a large bowl, cream the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add Eggs and Vanilla: Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Combine Wet and Dry: Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined.
- Fold in Mix-ins: Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts if using.
- Bake: Drop tablespoons of dough onto baking sheets and bake for 9–11 minutes.
- Cool: Let the cookies cool on the sheet before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- For softer cookies, slightly underbake and allow to finish setting on the sheet.
- Chilling the dough for 30 minutes before baking yields thicker cookies.
- You can customize by using different types of chocolate chunks or a mix of chocolates.
