Description

Create a fun and interactive Super Bouncy Ball using common household ingredients like white school glue, borax, and cornstarch. This simple project provides an entertaining activity suitable for kids and adults alike, resulting in a colorful, stretchy, and bouncy ball perfect for play and experiments.

Ingredients

Scale

Materials

  • ½ cup white school glue
  • 1 tablespoon borax powder
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • ¼ teaspoon food coloring (optional)
  • ¼ cup cornstarch
  • ¼ cup warm water (for borax solution)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Borax Solution: In a small bowl, mix 1 tablespoon of borax powder with ¼ cup warm water. Stir until the borax completely dissolves to create a clear solution.
  2. Mix Glue and Cornstarch: In a separate bowl, combine ½ cup white school glue, ¼ cup cornstarch, and 1 tablespoon of water. Stir the mixture until it becomes smooth and fully combined with no lumps.
  3. Add Color (Optional): If you want a colorful bouncy ball, add a few drops of food coloring to the glue mixture and stir thoroughly to spread the color evenly.
  4. Combine the Mixtures: Slowly pour the borax solution into the glue mixture while stirring continuously. You will notice the mixture beginning to clump and form a ball-like texture; keep stirring until it firms up and becomes solid.
  5. Knead the Ball: Remove the formed ball from the bowl and knead it with your hands for 2-3 minutes. If the ball feels sticky, sprinkle a little extra cornstarch on it and continue kneading until smooth and no longer sticky.
  6. Shape the Ball: Roll the kneaded mixture into a smooth, round ball, making sure the shape is even and compact.
  7. Let It Dry: Place the ball aside for a few hours to dry slightly, which helps it bounce better. Once dry, your super bouncy ball is ready for play!

Notes

  • Use warm water to help dissolve borax powder more effectively.
  • Add food coloring gradually if you want to control the intensity of the color.
  • If the ball is too sticky, add cornstarch little by little during kneading instead of all at once.
  • Store the bouncy ball in an airtight container to keep it from drying out completely.
  • This project is for play only; do not consume any of the materials used.
