Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Mix dry ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar.
- Cut in butter: Add the cold, cubed butter and cut it into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add wet ingredients: Make a well in the center, pour in the buttermilk, and stir just until the dough comes together.
- Create layers: Turn the dough out, pat it into a rectangle, fold, rotate, and repeat 3 times for flaky layers.
- Cut and bake: Pat the dough to 3/4-inch thickness, cut into biscuits, place on a baking sheet, brush with buttermilk, and bake for 14–16 minutes.
- Finish with honey butter: Mix melted butter and honey, brush over warm biscuits, and sprinkle with sea salt. Serve warm.
