Description

These Pulled Pork Mac and Cheese Sliders are a delicious fusion of creamy mac and cheese and savory pulled pork, all nestled inside buttery slider buns. Perfect for parties or casual dinners, these sliders combine cheesy comfort and smoky pork with a sweet and savory topping, baked to golden perfection.

Ingredients

Scale

Mac and Cheese

  • 1 cup uncooked macaroni noodles
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon ground mustard
  • ¾ cup milk
  • 1 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese

Sliders

  • 12 slider buns
  • 2-3 tablespoons butter (for spreading)
  • 24 oz. prepared pulled pork (shredded, approx. 3 cups)

Topping

  • 3 tablespoons melted butter
  • ½ teaspoon garlic salt
  • ½ teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat and cook macaroni: Preheat the oven to 350℉. Cook the macaroni noodles according to the package instructions, then drain thoroughly.
  2. Make the cheese sauce: While the macaroni cooks, melt 1 tablespoon butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in the flour, salt, pepper, and ground mustard and cook for 1 minute, whisking constantly to avoid lumps.
  3. Thicken the sauce: Increase heat to medium-high and gradually whisk in the milk. Continue stirring until the sauce thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon.
  4. Add cheese: Whisk in the sharp cheddar cheese until fully melted and smooth. Set the cheese sauce aside.
  5. Warm pulled pork: Heat the prepared pulled pork in the microwave according to package directions until warm.
  6. Prepare slider buns: Using a large serrated knife, slice each slider bun in half horizontally. Spread the bottom halves with 2 to 3 tablespoons of butter each and arrange them in a greased 9×13 inch baking pan.
  7. Assemble sliders: Evenly distribute the warmed pulled pork over the buttered bottom halves of the buns.
  8. Add mac and cheese: Spoon the prepared mac and cheese over the pulled pork layer.
  9. Top and prepare topping: Place the top halves of the buns over the mac and cheese. In a small bowl, mix melted butter, garlic salt, dried parsley, and brown sugar. Brush this mixture generously over the tops of the buns.
  10. Add parmesan and bake: Sprinkle grated parmesan cheese on top of the brushed buns. Bake the sliders in the preheated oven for 10 to 15 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and slightly crispy.
  11. Serve: Remove from oven and serve the sliders hot or at room temperature for the best flavor.

Notes

  • Use sharp cheddar for a more pronounced cheesy flavor in the mac and cheese.
  • Prepared pulled pork can be store-bought or homemade; ensure it is well seasoned for best results.
  • Brush slider tops thoroughly with the butter mixture for a golden, flavorful crust.
  • These sliders are perfect for gatherings and can be made ahead and reheated gently before serving.
  • For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the cheese sauce or the butter topping mix.
