Description

Indulge in the rich flavors of the Middle East with these decadent Pistachio Kunafa Brownies. A fusion dessert combining the beloved kunafa pastry with classic brownies, topped with pistachios and a hint of rose water.

Brownie Mix:

  • 1 box brownie mix (plus required eggs, oil, and water)

Kunafa Layer:

  • 1 1/2 cups kunafa dough (kataifi pastry)
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom (optional)

Topping:

  • 1/2 cup shelled pistachios, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 tablespoons rose water (optional)
  • Edible dried rose petals for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Brownie Batter: Follow the package instructions for the brownie mix and set aside.
  2. Prepare the Kunafa Layer: Mix kunafa dough with melted butter, sugar, and cardamom. Press half of the mixture into a baking pan.
  3. Layering: Spread brownie batter over the kunafa base. Top with the remaining kunafa mixture and chopped pistachios.
  4. Baking: Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30–35 minutes until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.
  5. Finishing Touches: Drizzle with sweetened condensed milk and rose water. Garnish with dried rose petals.

  • For a homemade brownie base, use your favorite brownie recipe.
  • Use a food processor to finely shred kunafa dough if needed.
