Description

These Indian Cheese Twists are a delightful combination of savory cheeses, aromatic spices, and flaky puff pastry. Perfect for parties or as a snack, these crispy twists are bursting with flavor and are sure to impress your guests.

Puff Pastry:

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed

Cheese Mixture:

  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/4 teaspoon red chili powder or cayenne
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Other:

  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Optional: sesame seeds or nigella seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare Cheese Mixture: In a small bowl, combine mozzarella, cheddar, Parmesan, cilantro, garam masala, red chili powder, cumin, and salt.
  3. Assemble: Unfold the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Sprinkle the cheese mixture over half the pastry sheet. Fold the other half over the top and press lightly to seal.
  4. Cut and Twist: Cut into 1/2-inch strips. Twist each strip gently and place on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Bake: Brush the twists with beaten egg, sprinkle with seeds if desired, and bake for 15–18 minutes until golden and crispy.
  6. Serve: Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Best served warm but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
  • For a spicier kick, add red pepper flakes or green chili to the cheese mix.
  • Serve with chutney or spiced yogurt dip.
