- 1 cup mandarin orange segments
- 1 cup maraschino cherries
- 1 banana, sliced
- 1 cup grapes or 2 kiwi, sliced
Dressing
- 1 cup vanilla yogurt (or whipped topping)
- 1 tablespoon honey or a dash of vanilla extract (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare Fruits: Wash and dry all fresh fruits thoroughly to ensure cleanliness and freshness.
- Slice and Segment: Slice the strawberries, segment the mandarin oranges, chop the pineapple into chunks, halve the grapes or slice the kiwi, and set the sliced banana aside for later.
- Make the Dressing: In a medium bowl, whisk together the vanilla yogurt and honey or vanilla extract until smooth and well combined.
- Combine Fruits and Dressing: Gently fold all the fruits except the banana into the yogurt dressing, mixing carefully to coat the fruits evenly without mashing them.
- Add Banana: Add the banana slices just before serving to keep them fresh and prevent browning.
- Chill: Cover the fruit salad and refrigerate for 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld and serve cold.
- Garnish and Serve: Garnish with extra maraschino cherries or shredded coconut if desired for added flavor and presentation.
Notes
- Use fresh, ripe fruits for the best flavor and texture.
- Banana is added last to prevent browning and maintain its texture.
- Milk-based yogurt can be substituted with plant-based yogurt for a vegan option.
- Maraschino cherries add sweetness and color, but can be omitted if preferred.
- For extra crunch, consider adding chopped nuts just before serving.
