Description

These Fried Strawberry Cheesecake Sandwiches are a decadent and delightful treat combining creamy cheesecake filling with fresh strawberries, sandwiched between buttery white or brioche bread, then fried to golden perfection and coated in a cinnamon sugar mixture. Perfect for a special breakfast or dessert that’s crispy, creamy, and bursting with flavor.

Ingredients

Scale

Cheesecake Filling

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon heavy cream (or milk)
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (optional, for flavor)

Strawberry Filling

  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, diced
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar

Sandwich Assembly

  • 8 slices of white or brioche bread (crusts removed, if desired)
  • 1 tablespoon butter, softened (for spreading on bread)

Frying and Coating

  • 2 cups vegetable oil (or oil for frying)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional, for coating)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cheesecake Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and heavy cream. Mix with a hand mixer or whisk until smooth and creamy. If desired, add cinnamon for extra flavor.
  2. Set Aside: Set the prepared cheesecake filling aside to be used later in assembling the sandwiches.
  3. Prepare the Strawberry Filling: In a small bowl, combine the diced strawberries with granulated sugar. Stir well and let sit for about 10 minutes so the strawberries release their natural juice.
  4. Assemble the Sandwiches: Lay out 4 slices of bread. Spread a generous amount of the cheesecake filling evenly onto each slice.
  5. Add Strawberry Filling: Spoon the sugared strawberry mixture on top of the cheesecake filling. Then place the remaining 4 slices of bread on top to form sandwiches.
  6. Butter the Sandwiches: Lightly butter the outside of each sandwich on both sides, ensuring an even coating for frying.
  7. Heat Oil for Frying: In a large skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches approximately 350°F (175°C). If you don’t have a thermometer, test by dropping a small piece of bread into the oil—it should sizzle immediately.
  8. Fry the Sandwiches: Carefully place the sandwiches in the hot oil. Fry for 2-3 minutes on each side or until the bread turns golden brown and crispy. Use a spatula to gently press down to ensure even frying.
  9. Coat with Cinnamon Sugar: While frying, mix granulated sugar and cinnamon in a shallow bowl. Once the sandwiches finish frying, immediately remove them from the oil and coat them evenly with the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  10. Serve Warm: Slice the fried strawberry cheesecake sandwiches into halves or quarters and serve warm. Optionally, garnish with extra fresh strawberries or whipped cream for a more indulgent treat.

Notes

  • Use brioche bread for a richer flavor and softer texture.
  • Remove crusts from the bread for a cleaner sandwich experience.
  • To ensure safety, monitor oil temperature carefully to avoid burning.
  • Serve immediately for best texture; the sandwiches are crispiest when fresh.
  • For variation, try adding a drizzle of chocolate sauce or a dusting of powdered sugar on top.
