Description

This Easy Parmesan Tilapia recipe is a quick and flavorful way to prepare tender tilapia fillets with a crispy, cheesy topping. The broiler method ensures a perfectly cooked fish with a golden parmesan crust in just minutes, making it an ideal weeknight dinner option.

Ingredients

Scale

Sauce and Topping

  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup butter (softened)
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice (fresh)
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon celery seed
  • 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs

Fish

  • 2 pounds tilapia fillets (8 fillets)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Broiler and Prepare Pan: Turn on your broiler and let it heat up. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and coat it with nonstick spray to prevent sticking and ease cleanup.
  2. Make the Parmesan Mixture: In a small bowl, combine the Parmesan cheese, softened butter, mayonnaise, and fresh lemon juice. Add dried basil, ground black pepper, onion powder, and celery seed to season. Stir in the panko bread crumbs until evenly mixed and set aside.
  3. Partially Broil the Tilapia: Arrange the tilapia fillets in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Broil them a few inches from the heat for 2 to 3 minutes. Then, flip the fillets over and broil for another 2 minutes to partially cook the fish.
  4. Top with Parmesan Mixture and Finish Broiling: Remove the fish from the broiler and spread the Parmesan cheese mixture evenly over the top side of each fillet. Return the pan to the broiler and cook for an additional 2 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the fish flakes easily with a fork. Avoid overcooking to maintain moistness.

Notes

  • Make sure the butter is softened to blend well with the other ingredients.
  • Keep an eye on the fish during broiling to prevent it from drying out or burning.
  • Serve immediately for the best texture and flavor.
  • Can be paired with steamed vegetables or a light salad for a complete meal.
