Ingredients
Scale
Cinnamon Roll Base
- 2 cans (12.4 oz each) refrigerated cinnamon rolls with icing
Egg Mixture
- 4 large eggs
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
Topping
- Icing from the cinnamon roll packages
Instructions
- Prepare the baking dish: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish to prevent sticking.
- Cut and arrange cinnamon rolls: Open the cinnamon roll cans and cut each roll into quarters. Spread the pieces evenly in the prepared baking dish to create a base layer.
- Mix egg custard: In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, ground cinnamon, vanilla extract, maple syrup, brown sugar, and melted butter until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
- Pour custard over rolls: Evenly pour the egg mixture over the cinnamon roll pieces, ensuring all pieces are coated and soaked for a cohesive casserole.
- Bake the casserole: Bake in the preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the casserole is golden brown on top and the center is set. If the top browns too quickly, loosely cover with foil during the last 10 minutes to prevent burning.
- Add icing and serve: Remove the casserole from the oven and let it cool slightly. Drizzle the reserved icing from the cinnamon roll packages over the warm casserole before serving for added sweetness and flavor.
Notes
- You can prep the casserole the night before by assembling it and refrigerating; just add 5 to 10 minutes to the baking time when ready to bake.
- Serve warm with extra maple syrup or a dusting of powdered sugar for an indulgent brunch treat.
