Description
This Easy Chicken Tacos recipe is a quick and flavorful meal perfect for busy weeknights. Tender, seasoned chicken breast pieces cooked on the stovetop are served in warm tortillas with your favorite garnishes, making a customizable and delicious taco filling everyone will love.
Ingredients
Scale
Protein
- 2 pounds boneless skinless chicken breast
Seasoning
- 2 tablespoons taco seasoning
Serve With
- Tortillas
- Your favorite taco garnishes (such as shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, cheese, sour cream, salsa, avocado, cilantro)
Instructions
- Prepare the Chicken: Dice the chicken breast into small pieces, approximately ½ to ¾ inch cubes. It’s okay if pieces vary slightly in size as long as they’re small enough to serve as taco filling. Transfer the diced chicken to a bowl, sprinkle with 2 tablespoons of taco seasoning, and toss to coat evenly.
- Heat the Pan: Let the seasoned chicken rest for a few minutes while heating a large pan over medium-high heat. Lightly grease the pan with a small amount of oil to prevent sticking.
- Cook the Chicken: Add the chicken pieces to the hot pan. Cook for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring every couple of minutes to ensure even cooking. The chicken is done when it reaches an internal temperature of 165ºF and the juices run clear.
- Rest and Serve: Remove the cooked chicken from the heat and let it rest for 3 to 5 minutes to allow the juices to redistribute. Use the chicken as a filling in warm tortillas and top with your favorite garnishes.
Notes
- Feel free to customize your garnishes with ingredients like shredded cheese, chopped onions, cilantro, avocado slices, or a squeeze of lime juice to enhance flavor.
- For extra spice, add a dash of hot sauce or crushed red pepper flakes to the chicken while cooking.
- You can use store-bought or homemade taco seasoning depending on your preference.
- Using a meat thermometer ensures perfectly cooked chicken without drying it out.
