Ingredients
Scale
Cinnamon Rolls
- 2 cans (8-count each) refrigerated cinnamon rolls with icing
Custard Mixture
- 4 large eggs
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup maple syrup (optional)
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
Topping
- Powdered sugar or reserved icing for topping
Instructions
- Preheat and prepare: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish to prevent sticking and ensure even baking.
- Cut cinnamon rolls: Cut each cinnamon roll into quarters and place the pieces evenly in the prepared baking dish, distributing them as uniformly as possible.
- Mix custard: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, vanilla extract, maple syrup (if using), and melted butter until the mixture is smooth and fully combined.
- Combine and soak: Pour the custard mixture evenly over the cinnamon roll pieces in the baking dish. Press gently on the cinnamon roll pieces to help them soak up the custard.
- Bake: Bake the casserole in the preheated oven for 25–30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the center is set, indicating it is fully cooked.
- Cool and garnish: Remove the casserole from the oven and let it cool slightly to firm up. Drizzle the reserved icing over the top or dust with powdered sugar just before serving.
Notes
- Serve warm with fresh fruit or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an indulgent dessert experience.
- This casserole is also perfect as a sweet brunch dish.
- Use the reserved icing from the cinnamon rolls for a richer topping or substitute with powdered sugar as desired.
