Description

A warm and indulgent Dessert Cinnamon Roll Casserole perfect for brunch or dessert. Soft cinnamon roll pieces are soaked in a rich, spiced custard mixture, baked until golden, and topped with sweet icing or powdered sugar for a delightful treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Cinnamon Rolls

  • 2 cans (8-count each) refrigerated cinnamon rolls with icing

Custard Mixture

  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

Topping

  • Powdered sugar or reserved icing for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat and prepare: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish to prevent sticking and ensure even baking.
  2. Cut cinnamon rolls: Cut each cinnamon roll into quarters and place the pieces evenly in the prepared baking dish, distributing them as uniformly as possible.
  3. Mix custard: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, vanilla extract, maple syrup (if using), and melted butter until the mixture is smooth and fully combined.
  4. Combine and soak: Pour the custard mixture evenly over the cinnamon roll pieces in the baking dish. Press gently on the cinnamon roll pieces to help them soak up the custard.
  5. Bake: Bake the casserole in the preheated oven for 25–30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the center is set, indicating it is fully cooked.
  6. Cool and garnish: Remove the casserole from the oven and let it cool slightly to firm up. Drizzle the reserved icing over the top or dust with powdered sugar just before serving.

Notes

  • Serve warm with fresh fruit or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an indulgent dessert experience.
  • This casserole is also perfect as a sweet brunch dish.
  • Use the reserved icing from the cinnamon rolls for a richer topping or substitute with powdered sugar as desired.
