Main Ingredients
- 1 large cucumber, peeled and chopped
- 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
- 2 tablespoons agave syrup or sugar (adjust to taste)
- 4 cups cold water
For Serving
- Ice cubes
- Fresh mint leaves (optional, for garnish)
- Extra lime wedges (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare Ingredients: Peel and chop one large cucumber into smaller pieces for easy blending. Measure out 2 tablespoons of fresh lime juice and 2 tablespoons of agave syrup or sugar according to your preferred sweetness.
- Blend the Mixture: Place the chopped cucumber, fresh lime juice, agave syrup (or sugar), and 4 cups of cold water into a blender. Blend on high speed for about 30 to 60 seconds until the mixture is smooth and uniform in texture.
- Strain (Optional): Pour the blended mixture through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a large pitcher to remove cucumber pulp if you prefer a smooth and clear drink. Use a spoon or spatula to press the liquid through for maximum yield.
- Taste and Adjust: Stir the strained mixture well and taste it. If the sweetness is not sufficient, add more agave syrup or sugar as needed and stir until dissolved.
- Serve: Fill serving glasses with ice cubes, pour the cucumber agua fresca over the ice, and garnish with fresh mint leaves and lime wedges to enhance freshness and presentation. Serve immediately for best flavor.
Notes
- For a bit of fizz, you can substitute some or all of the cold water with sparkling water.
- Using peeled cucumber ensures a smoother texture and less bitterness.
- Adjust the sweetness according to your taste preference.
- This drink is best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
- Fresh mint and lime wedges add an extra layer of aroma and freshness when used as garnish.
