Description

These Crispy Fried Lasagna Rolls are a fun and delicious twist on traditional lasagna. Tender lasagna noodles are filled with a creamy mixture of ricotta, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheeses, seasoned with Italian herbs, then rolled up and coated in a crispy breadcrumb crust. Fried until golden and served with warm marinara sauce for dipping, they make an irresistible appetizer or party snack bursting with cheesy flavor and satisfying crunch.

Ingredients

Scale

Lasagna Rolls Filling

  • 8 lasagna noodles, cooked and drained
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup marinara sauce (plus extra for dipping)

Breading Station

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 1/2 cups Italian-style breadcrumbs

For Frying

  • Vegetable oil, for frying (about 2 inches deep)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Filling: Lay out the cooked lasagna noodles on a flat surface. In a medium bowl, combine ricotta, shredded mozzarella, grated Parmesan, 1 egg, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well blended.
  2. Assemble the Rolls: Spread approximately 2 tablespoons of the cheese mixture evenly over each lasagna noodle. Top each with a spoonful of marinara sauce, then tightly roll up each noodle into a log shape.
  3. Set up the Breading Station: Arrange three shallow bowls: one with all-purpose flour, one with the beaten eggs, and one with Italian-style breadcrumbs.
  4. Bread the Rolls: Dip each lasagna roll first into the flour, coating all sides, then into the beaten egg, followed by the breadcrumbs. Press gently to ensure the breadcrumbs adhere evenly.
  5. Heat the Oil: Pour vegetable oil into a deep skillet to a depth of about 2 inches. Heat over medium heat until the oil reaches 350°F (175°C).
  6. Fry the Rolls: Fry the breaded lasagna rolls in batches, cooking for about 2 to 3 minutes per side or until they become golden brown and crispy. Be careful not to overcrowd the pan.
  7. Drain and Serve: Remove the fried rolls using a slotted spoon and drain on a paper towel-lined plate to remove excess oil. Serve hot with warmed marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • You can use leftover cooked lasagna noodles or any preferred lasagna fillings.
  • Add cooked sausage, spinach, or other favorite ingredients to the cheese mixture for variety.
  • For a lighter alternative, bake the rolls at 400°F (200°C) for 15–20 minutes instead of frying.
