A flavorful and versatile Creole seasoning blend that combines smoked and sweet paprika with a vibrant mix of herbs and spices, perfect for adding a zesty, Southern-inspired kick to your dishes. This homemade spice mix is easy to prepare and can be stored for up to two months, enhancing meats, seafood, vegetables, and more.

Ingredients

Scale

Spices

  • 2 tablespoons smoked paprika
  • 2 tablespoons sweet paprika
  • 2 tablespoons dried oregano
  • 2 tablespoons garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon dried thyme
  • 1 tablespoon dried basil
  • 1 tablespoon ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt
  • 1½ teaspoons flake sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a medium bowl, thoroughly mix smoked paprika, sweet paprika, dried oregano, garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, dried basil, ground black pepper, kosher salt, flake sea salt, cayenne pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes until evenly blended.
  2. Store and Use: Transfer the Creole seasoning blend to an airtight container. Store in a cool, dry place for up to 2 months. Use as a dry rub or seasoning to enhance the flavor of your favorite dishes.

Notes

  • Adjust the cayenne pepper and red pepper flakes to control the heat level to your liking.
  • Ensure the container is airtight to maintain freshness and potency of the spices.
  • This seasoning works well on grilled meats, roasted vegetables, soups, and stews.
  • For best flavor, use within two months as spices can lose potency over time.
