Description

This Cinnamon Apple Tea with Ginger is a warm and aromatic beverage perfect for cozy moments. Combining the natural sweetness of apples, the spicy warmth of cinnamon and ginger, and a hint of lemon brightness, this tea offers a comforting and flavorful drink that can be enjoyed any time. It’s easy to prepare and can be customized with your choice of tea and optional honey for sweetness.

Ingredients

Scale

Tea Base

  • 2 cups of water
  • Tea bag of your choice (black, green, or herbal)

Fruit & Spice

  • 1 medium apple (preferably red or green), cored and thinly sliced
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1-inch piece of fresh ginger, peeled and thinly sliced
  • A pinch of ground nutmeg (optional)

Additions

  • 1 tablespoon honey (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Boil Water: Begin by pouring 2 cups of water into a saucepan and bring it to a boil over medium heat.
  2. Add Ingredients: Once boiling, add the sliced apple, cinnamon stick, and ginger slices into the saucepan.
  3. Simmer Flavors: Reduce the heat and let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes. This allows the flavors to infuse into the water.
  4. Add Nutmeg (Optional): Add a pinch of ground nutmeg for additional warmth and aroma, if desired.
  5. Cool Slightly: After simmering, remove the saucepan from heat and let it cool slightly to safe-handling temperature.
  6. Strain Liquid: Strain the liquid into a teapot or heatproof serving vessel, discarding the apple slices, cinnamon stick, and ginger pieces.
  7. Steep Tea: Add the tea bag of your choice to the strained liquid and let it steep for 3-5 minutes, depending on your preferred tea strength.
  8. Sweeten Tea (Optional): Remove the tea bag and sweeten the tea with honey, stirring well to dissolve.
  9. Add Lemon Juice: Add lemon juice to the tea for a touch of brightness and to balance the flavors.
  10. Serve: Pour the tea hot into teacups and enjoy the warm, aromatic blend.

Notes

  • Use fresh apples for the best aromatic infusion.
  • Cinnamon stick can be substituted with ground cinnamon but add it after simmering to avoid bitterness.
  • Adjust honey and lemon juice to your preferred level of sweetness and acidity.
  • This tea is naturally caffeine-containing or caffeine-free depending on tea bag choice.
  • Keep an eye on simmering to avoid boiling off too much water.
