  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
  • Additional Ingredients:

  • 1 cup shredded Gruyere cheese
  • 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Caramelize the Onions: In a large skillet, heat olive oil and butter. Add onions, salt, pepper, and thyme. Cook until caramelized, then stir in balsamic vinegar.
  3. Prepare the Pastry: Roll out puff pastry, score a border, brush with egg wash, spread caramelized onions, and top with Gruyere.
  4. Bake: Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden and crisp. Garnish with thyme before serving.
