Description

These Canned Biscuit Glazed Doughnuts are a quick and easy homemade treat made from refrigerated biscuit dough, fried to golden perfection and dipped in a smooth vanilla glaze. Perfect for breakfast or dessert, they combine simplicity with deliciousness, offering a delightful doughnut experience without the fuss of traditional doughnut making.

Ingredients

Scale

Doughnuts

  • 1 can (8-count) refrigerated biscuit dough (such as Pillsbury Grands)
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2–3 tablespoons milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the glaze: In a medium bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth to make the glaze. Set aside.
  2. Heat the oil: Heat about 1½ inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or saucepan over medium heat to 350°F (175°C).
  3. Shape the doughnuts: While the oil heats, open the biscuit dough and separate the biscuits. Use a small round cutter or bottle cap to cut out the center of each biscuit to create a doughnut shape, saving the centers to make doughnut holes.
  4. Fry the doughnuts: Carefully place a few doughnuts at a time into the hot oil. Fry for 1–2 minutes per side, or until golden brown and puffed. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Repeat with the remaining doughnuts and doughnut holes.
  5. Glaze the doughnuts: While still warm, dip each doughnut into the glaze, allowing excess to drip off. Place on a wire rack to let the glaze set.
  6. Serve fresh: Enjoy the glazed doughnuts while fresh for best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • For flavor variations, add a dash of cinnamon or maple extract to the glaze.
  • You can also roll freshly fried doughnuts in cinnamon sugar instead of glazing.
  • Best enjoyed the same day for optimal freshness.
