Description

A delicious and easy-to-make Berry Croissant Bake that combines flaky croissants with a sweet custard and mixed berries for a perfect breakfast or brunch treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Croissants and Fruit

  • 4 croissants, sliced
  • 1 cup mixed berries (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries)

Custard Mixture

  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

Optional Topping

  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the croissant casserole.
  2. Prepare the Croissants: Slice the croissants into pieces and arrange them evenly in a greased baking dish to create the base layer.
  3. Add the Berries: Distribute the mixed berries evenly over the sliced croissants to add a fruity burst in every bite.
  4. Make the Custard Mixture: In a bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  5. Pour and Bake: Pour the custard mixture evenly over the croissant and berry layers. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes until the top is golden brown and the custard is fully set.
  6. Serve: Remove from oven and let it cool slightly. Dust with powdered sugar before serving, if desired, for added sweetness and presentation.

Notes

  • You can use fresh or frozen mixed berries; if using frozen, do not thaw to avoid excess moisture.
  • For a richer custard, substitute half the milk with cream.
  • Serve warm for the best taste and texture.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated and reheated in the oven or microwave.
  • Feel free to add a handful of chopped nuts for extra crunch.
