Ingredients
Scale
Croissants and Fruit
- 4 croissants, sliced
- 1 cup mixed berries (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries)
Custard Mixture
- 1 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
Optional Topping
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the croissant casserole.
- Prepare the Croissants: Slice the croissants into pieces and arrange them evenly in a greased baking dish to create the base layer.
- Add the Berries: Distribute the mixed berries evenly over the sliced croissants to add a fruity burst in every bite.
- Make the Custard Mixture: In a bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
- Pour and Bake: Pour the custard mixture evenly over the croissant and berry layers. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes until the top is golden brown and the custard is fully set.
- Serve: Remove from oven and let it cool slightly. Dust with powdered sugar before serving, if desired, for added sweetness and presentation.
Notes
- You can use fresh or frozen mixed berries; if using frozen, do not thaw to avoid excess moisture.
- For a richer custard, substitute half the milk with cream.
- Serve warm for the best taste and texture.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated and reheated in the oven or microwave.
- Feel free to add a handful of chopped nuts for extra crunch.
